What is yahoo chat and how is it different from messenger?

ok, im not talking about the chatrooms, it's that little button thingy in ur email that puts you into chat mode or something. yeah, how is chatting in your email thingy different from messenger? it's kind of confusing me, A LOT. sorry if you dont know what im talking about, but this is really the only way i can think of to explain it.

2. Yahoo! Chat and Yahoo! Messenger, are the same thing. The only difference between the two is that you download Yahoo! Messenger, and Yahoo! Chat is online... Both are free, and if I am using Messenger, I can still talk to someone using Yahoo! Chat and Viceversa.. It's just how you want to view the messages... Online without some features, or downloaded with extra features.
